Xbox Live is featuring the Halo Trilogy theme

For the low low price of 150 points, The Halo Trilogy dashboard theme is a serious theme for all those Halo fanboys. Origionally available as a free gift with the purchase of the Halo 3 Xbox 360 faceplate, the theme contains scenes (that are, as advertised “never-before seen”) from Halo 1, 2 and 3.

“Each Each blade presents a re-imagined view from the Halo universe, including all three iterations of the Master Chief’s iconic Spartan armor, from past, present and future.”

Sonic Riders PC Review

sonic riders pcI am a big fan of Sega, I really like the Sonic series. It has its ups and downs and sometimes its major downs. Sonic Riders for the PC isn’t really much of a down. On the PC Sonic Riders isn’t very diffrent compared to its brothers on the console.

BUT THEY FIXED A BUG THAT WAS DRIVING ME NUTS! In the console version of Sonic Riders, if you went back to the menu after the race, progressed through the story line, viewed a replay, went to the “black market” it would save the game. The problem was that the game often forgot that it saved after the race and would save again. This would cause the game to save multiple times when it didn’t need to.

Anyway, Sonic Riders for the PC has some great controls, they are very simple and flow well. If you are going to play this game, it would be better to use a control pad then a stick (it will come in handy for those very tight turns you are normally required to make). All the levels are exactly the same as the console versions (despite the more detail in the graphics area).

But during their improvements Sega fell short on quite a few details. One the sound sucks. At certain points the music would stop and you could hear noise like the save noise, the menu sounds (not sure why this is). Drifting Controls and the Restore Air controls (when you lose control of your character just before the next lap line [if you have played the console version before you will know what I mean]) should have been fixed to support joysticks. When trying to map controls to my joystick I noticed that Sega accidentally typed in all caps…again. And oddly there is no option to shut up the stupid announcer (like there is in the console version) only, the option to make him (it’s actually an omochao [so it has no gender..somehow..]) quiet also kills all the character’s voices, sound effects, and menu noises.

On a good note, Sega finally rendered the cut scenes. Which before they looked like they looked like graphics from the beta version. That’s good. So to the ratings:

Sound: 3/10 -This is so unexceptible, the game sound and music don’t work well togther
Graphics: 7.5/10 -Better then the console versions
Controls: 9/10 -Fantastic!
Playback: 7.5/10 -Great! but it loses value over time
Improvement: 6/10 -Not much changed from the console versions

Overall Score: 7/10 – Sound was a big problem as well as new content (improvement).

Q&A Answering your Pokemon Questions

I have decided to dedicate a post to answering some pokemon questions I recieve daily.

You have no idea how many comments I get a day about when Pokemon Ranger comes out. It releases on the 30th of this month people. I don’t know what is really causing the want for the game.

The second most popular question I recieve is when Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (insert color here) Rescue Team comes out. If you are still asking me this question it’s because you missed the release. It came out a month ago. But the release was silent. It wasn’t overly advertised or from what I saw, advertised at all (on TV I mean).

The third question of the day is: “Is there going to going to be a pokemon game for the wii?”

The answer to this one is yes. The name of the game is called: “Pokemon Battle Revolution” and is being made by the same people who made the Pokemon Colessuem games (Genius Sonority). As of now all we know is that it has a release date in Japan, and Nintendo has not said anything else on this topic. UPDATE: It will release in America, check the recent news articles on this site. Or search “Pokemon Battle Revolution” in the box above.

Thanks for sending in your massive array of questions!

EA today said that they have more then 30 games in process for the PS3. This includes the Madden 2007, Tiger Woods 2007, and Need for Speed Carbon that are supposed to launch with the Playstation 3. But the one on the list that I like is BURNOUT 5. You have no clue how much I LOVE to pwn people in burnout. Unlike NFS, burnout has not had a single version where it sucks. The game rocks, it always has. And according to EA, Burnout 5 is gonna be the best ever (YAY! PARTY!).

The list of games that will be releasing are (as well as the date):

Army of Two 2007
Battlefield: Bad Company 2007
Burnout 5 Q1 2007 !!!!!
Def Jam: Icon March 2007
Fight Night Round 3 December 12, 2006
Madden NFL 07 November 17, 2006

The I so told you so

I knew it was going to happen. We all know that the Wii won’t be corded. Thus anyone who wanted to could potentally steal a WiiMote at a Wii Kiosk despite it being moraly wrong. I recentally told someone that I bet that store owners are going to have a worker at the Wii Kiosk to see if anyone steals the WiiMote. I was right. WalMart says it’s going to hire more people to watch over you while you are playing the Wii so you don’t walk off with the Mote (awww…too bad). Anyway, some WalMart stores will actually pay the person to watch you as well as play with you. So now you can have a good old multiplayer time while beating the heck out of the WalMart guy during Super Smash Bros Brawl. How sweet.

The PS3 Online.

The PS3 is trying to be as good as (if not better) than the Xbox360. They hope to achieve this in the online part of the system. The PS3 is supposed to have most of the stuff Xbox Live has. Like multiple ways of communicating with friends, downloadable stuff, etc. The PS3 is advertised to include a full web browser (wow, they took that idea from the Wii) and pricing in real $$$ instead of points (which seems to be another reference to the Wii).

Another feature is the parental features, with logging and master accounts and what not.

There is a bank (it’s like a bank system however it seems more like cash on hand than a bank) which you can use to make all your payments for online playing (wow, paying for each individual game rather than one payment for all like other systems)

And then there is the PS3 OS that is upgradable from the Online service that takes up the entire hard drive (thought you could get away from memory cards could you?).

But unfortunately the PS3 will probably will not be like the 360 (much to the dismay of Phil Harrison). You can’t use messages while playing a game (you can only get notified) and if you want to read them you will have to exit the game in order to respond. Sony has yet to state if they will have leaderboards for games.

Ubisoft tells us more about Vegas

Ubisoft has coughed up the details about the new Rainbow 6 (it’s actually #5) game, Vegas. The game will combine Xbox Live Vision to allow users to face map themselves on characters. Ubisoft also gave out details about a feature called tag using tag you can assign a CPU to a enemy thus making it easier to take out someone. The game will feature new gadgets (as always), and a new emphasis on Observe-Plan-Assault (OPA) tactics.

Enemy AI will be upgraded making the enemies alot smarter, which Ubisoft claims is needed for the newer consoles (really, so older systems get dumber enemies), enemies will also start to work in groups more often.

As stated before, you can customize your character a ton. Every thing from body armour to weapons, sights, to physical attributes (face textures is a big one).

As of now it will be getting an M rating and it is being devoloped by the Montreal Studio (who we haven’t heard from in a while [last game they made was Rainbow Six 3]). The game comes out next month for the Xbox 360 and PS3 only.

Hotel Dusk got a name change and perhaps a new story?

Posted on by MASA.

I once posted on the DS game Hotel Dusk that I saw while I was at nintendo. Recentally I was reading the net and found a game called Sinking Island. Oddly, the story line sounds similiar to Hotel Dusk.

According to the game site GoNintendo (where I read about this Sinking Island game), the storyline involves a Private Investigator named Jack Norm (odd because Hotel Dusk’s PI name is Jack). In Sinking Island, Jack is sent to check out a tropical island where the murder of a billionaire hotel owner (hmm…hotel…in hotel dusk a man is shot in the start and you constantly think of your girlfriend [lots of cutscenes with the same girl]), the hotel could be related. According to GoNintendo, the game gets its title from the effect that the murder is having on the island’s economy. You play for up to 3 days in simulated time with each day clues and items will start to fade (note: in hotel dusk you have around 4 days).

Is it similar? or is it just a slight coinicidence? I don’t know but from the sound of it they seem similar.
