Last night on the Stephen Colbert Report, Stephen showed off his wii in the most hilarious manner yet. Apparently, he likes the Mii version of himself. Anyway, after that he rubbed it in that he “gotz one” [talking about the Wii] and it was already hard to get, he went and played WiiSports on it. He chose Boxing and went up against Nancy Pelosi using his own Mii. And guess who won.

Well, I am not gonna tell you. You better just watch the video yourself.

Buying a PS3 can be deadly for your health

Unlike the civilized lines for the Wii, the lines for the PS3 were deadly. Shooters, killers, assaulters, jealous people all filled the line for the PS3 (however this was not at every store. Some PS3 lines were civilized and polite to others).

Today, a 20 year old man has gone to jail for trying to kill and rob people waiting in line for a PS3 at a Walmart in Massachusetts. This man and a 17 year old “sidekick” demanded that everyone in line to drop their possessions and cash on the ground or play trick-o-treat and put the riches in the thieves bags that they had.

One 21 year old man, called 911 when he saw the armed gunmen on his cell phone. The 21 year old man named  Michael Penkala was confronted with the armed men they demanded he give up his wallet which was fully loaded with at least $2,500 in cash. He was then shot and taken to the hospital once police arrived. From the news report, Penkala is still alive and is still recovering.

Today both men were arrested and sent to jail. Both have bail at $1 million dollars.

Remember Playing The PS1 games on your PSP hack?

I once reported the news on September 24th of this year. The original emulator was a very buggy emulator that ran games at 10fps max. Well the emulator has improved and games run close to their PSX speeds. It also now supports a bunch of games instead of just 3, they have a list that is viewable here. It now has a new name, the PS1P and doesn’t require you to own a PS3 (like Sony’s own emulator for the PSP requires [probably so they can increase the money in their wallets, a typical Sony ploy]). And it’s free. However the legality of the emulator is a bit iffy, but I am not a law/political/lawyer person so don’t take it from me.

Anyway here is the link to the emulator:

Wii is a sell out

WiiThis may not come as a shock but the Wii is a major sell out. It’s sold over 600,000 units in just 8 simple days. And most people have managed to to break something with their controller because they have sweaty hands (eww..don’t touch that one when they are done). Or because they can’t hold a remote (maybe it’s their first time) due to other members in the family hogging the remote.

So which game is the most popular for the Wii right now? It’s Legend of Zelda:Twlight Princess. The game has sold over 454,000 copies (which is about 75% of all purchasers of the Wii bought LOZ:TP [and no, TP doesn't mean Toilet Paper]). Even Reggie is surprised “We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company [Referring to Sony and the PS3] was able to deliver for its launch around the same time — and we still sold out.”. Wow Reggie. Don’t ever doubt yourself. For everyone else, good luck finding a Wii and game on.

Wii is out, Gamespotting.net comes back

Well, in a weird turn of events, we suddenly ran out of all bandwidth because we had tons of visitors suddenly. And the complete site went down.

In other news, the Wii came out. But you probably knew that by now.

If you have a HD or ED TV and are getting a Wii read this

Wii CablesIf you looked at the Wii’s hardware statistics you might have noticed that it’s max resoultion is 480p, which might be bad for people with HDTV as they might not be able to play their Wii very clearly (this is because the RBW cables that you get are analog cables and HDTV is HD not so much analog). For the best graphics picture you should use component cables for the Wii. But the only problem is that the component cables needed are not included. And they cost $30 bucks from the Nintendo Online Store (only place to buy them for now).

And the GameCube ones don’t look like they work for the Wii (the part that connects the cables to the system looks way too big) so you either can wait for MadCatz to make their version of the cables (December 1st) or you can buy them now and wait until Novemeber 28, 2006 to get them.

The Wii will still function on HD and ED TVs but you will not be able to use Progressive Scan and the quality will not look good.

You can buy the cables here.

Don’t get your Wii (or PS3) at Amazon.com

Today, Amazon.com says that they will not be taking preorders for the PS3 and Wii Preorders are not for sale. In fact they think that they might not be able to send you your Wii or PS3 until 2007. Amazon states that they might not have any shipments of the PS3 at all. However, people who already ordered the Wii *should* get their systems after the launch date (expect a delay).

If you want a PS3 or Wii, go order it somewhere else or buy it at someother place, like Target.

Wait…the Wii will have DVD playback?

Posted on November 13, 2006 by MASA.
Categories: Gaming, Wii.

Yes. But not right away. According to Nintendo, the Wii will have DVD playback. Just not right away. Sonic Solutions, the makers of the Roxio CD and DVD creator software says that it will be making a DVD version of the Wii that will be on sale in the second Quarter of 2007. This means that the Wii that is coming out in 5 more days will not have DVD playback, only the one that comes out next year.

Nintendo has not said if an add-on for the Wii, will be made for people who bought a non-DVD version of the Wii

Oh no! GameStop won’t be able to fill PS3 preorders

Posted on by MASA.
Categories: Gaming, PS3.

A few weeks ago GameStop said that they were taking orders for PS3s but each store would only take 8 preorders because that the amount they were thought to get. Unfortunately, Sony didn’t build as many units as Nintendo did with the Wii (around some 4 mil) and it won’t be able to fill that 8 per GameStop store. GameStop thinks that they are going to get a lot less than 8. In fact, no GameStop employee is allowed to purchase a PS3 from GameStop until the second shipment of PS3s come in (which means if an employee has preordered one already, he has to give it up to a customer).

For the poor, poor people that won’t be getting a PS3 and preordered one but there wasn’t enough, GameStop says that those people (employees too) will get a free used game or DVD that is less than or equal to $19.99 when the system comes in and they buy it.

According to GameStop, they are going to start contacting customers who preordered a PS3 to update them on the status of their reservation tomorrow.

More Wii Virtual Console games!

According to ESRB there are a few more Virtual Console Games that are going to be added to the Wii when it comes out. Some of these games were shown as a E3 Demo Disk this year. ESRB claims that these games will be availble for the Virtual Console, with support for the WiiMote. Infact some of these games have been modified to specially support the WiiMote features ie. the motion sensor.

Punch-Out (I would assume that moving the controler forword would punch)
Pro Wrestling (ditto)
Kirby’s Adventure (I would think it would be the attack in the minigames)
Kid Icarus (Shoot arrows?)
Hogan’s Alley
Wild Gunman (Shoot?)
Duck Hunt (The WiiMote will be used as the gun [Confirmed])
PilotWings

Who knows until the Wii comes out. Stay tuned.
