Nintendo and Sega announce Mario & Sonic @ the Olympics

Mario and Sonic ArtSEGA has stated today that they will be working on a game for the Wii and the DS that will (for the first time) have Mario and Sonic both in it.

The game is currently being called Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and is supposed to be released by 4th Quarter of 2007. In the game you will compete in events that one would normally find in the Olympics (but of course this will be provided by Official Sponsers [in other words, be prepared for ads that are for real things]).
Sega announced that Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails are guaranteed to be in the game, with more on the way. Sega revealed that the game so far features racing, table tennis (how did that become a sport? It’s more like an activity), and swimming events. However they didn’t list the others (which we assume there will be more). Sega and Nintendo are working with ISM (they have the exclusive rights to Olympic Game related software/entertainment stuff).

So far the game doesn’t seem appealing, but that could all change…right?

The Xbox 360 Elite is real, seriously.

Major Nelson claims on his own blog that the Xbox 360 Elite is real. The 360 Elite is kinda like a remix of the old 360, like a redubbed, remixed version. This has a 120GB Hard Drive and will have HDMI output support. And that’s about it…all for $479 dollars. If you think about it, it’s a good deal, $79 for a way bigger hard drive, like 102GB bigger for only $79 dollars more then the Premium console (how much it costs where we are), and it’s black, which is the essence of cool. Anyway, the new system comes out on April 29th. Microsoft is also releasing the 120GB HD seprately, but you have to pay $179 dollars for it.

Only one new game on the Wii VC

This week, Nintendo has added the game Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire, which is a Game I have never heard about. The game seems like it’s a strategy game and it’s being offered for 800 Wii Points. You might want to check it out first before downloading it.

Nintendo’s description:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV is a tactical simulation game in which the player takes the role of a ruler seeking to unite China in the era of the three kingdoms of Wei, Wu and Shu. The role of the ruler is to command a range of officers with differing characteristics – some cunning strategists, others brave warriors – and strengthen the military might of his or her kingdom. Foreign policy, involving forming alliances with certain kingdoms and hatching plans to weaken others, will play a major role in this process. Once players have developed a powerful enough military, it will be time to expand their borders through military conquest. Ultimate victory will only be achieved once all 43 cities in China lie within a player’s control.

If you got a 404 error message within the last 10 minutes of this post (10:32pm 3-24) then please just go to the homepage and go to the article you wanted to read. I am trying out new linking stuff and I finally made my mind up now. So they should stop changing. If you have old links bookmarked like:

or something, they will still work.

Sorry for the confusion.

This URL was put on chairs that were handed out by Microsoft Employees during the PS3 launch so people could sit down on them. It also contains hidden images of the Xbox 360 but you have to be cleaver enough to find them. They include a super zoomed in faceplate, dancing controller and a shining Xbox 360.

Some Xbox Live Accounts are hacked?

Turns out, Mr. Nelson’s previous statement that “no one’s account was hacked, but there was some ‘suspicious’ activity on some accounts” is still true. However, a security researcher named Kevin Finisterre showed Microsoft how wrong they were about no one’s account was hacked. Kevin found that several Live accounts were hacked/stolen from users? How? Someone took advantage of Xbox Live users by pretexting to Microsoft Support as users who got their accounts “stolen” (which we assume that it is regarding the previous scare about Live accounts). The scammers were able to get Addresses, Credit Cards, Xbox Live Account logins as well as other stuff, by claiming they were helpless and hopeless users.

The real problem is that Microsoft Support actually gave this info out over the phone. The scammers threatened to take down anyone’s account and then steal any data from the said account. According to Microsoft, the scammers actually work as a clan (called oinfamouso) that advertise they steal accounts from people on their website. They shout out online threats, and slurs to any user who claims they are playing with hackers (kind of like the mafia) on Halo 2.

Title Screen for JetpacMicrosoft announced today that Rare (a company they bought a few years ago) is releasing Jetpac Refuelled to Xbox Live, for 400 points. It will appear on Xbox Live Arcade and as a bonus, comes with the original 1983 version of Jetpac for free. Refuelled features restyled graphics, and loads of improvements then the version of Jetpac that was hidden in Donkey Kong 64 as a minigame (it was very very buggy, which made it take way too long to load [5 min]).

Jetpac Refuelled also includes over 100 new levels, and multiplayer gaming (online via Live and local with another controller).

If you want to watch the preview, it’s available here.

Why can’t we get that?

So, in England, the PS3 Launch wasn’t so “dangerous” or “disasterous” as people predicted. In fact, it went really well. So well that I wish I was there and got the stuff they got. Why? Because Sony gave anyone who got a PS3, a 46-inch HD TV Free. Yeah, that’s right, free. WHY CAN’T WE GET THAT?! Sony of America must hate us. I mean seriously, I would have bought a PS3 just for a TV like that. I am willing to pay $750 dollars or more for a 46″ TV. That’s pretty cheap, considering it comes with Virtua Tenis, Tea and Crumpets, a Sony goodie bag, and a free cab ride after you bought your PS3. Dang. Lucky Brits.

Nintendo has announced fixes to their Opera Wii Browser. These fixes include better browsing functions and display fixes. As well as:

  • improved zooming and scrolling functions
  • an improved zoomed font
  • improved browser speed
  • quicker access to your favorites
  • the ability to hide the toolbar
  • buttons that will instantly type things like “www.” or “.com” or “.net”

Nintendo has pushed back the date of the Final Version of the Opera Browser (for those who haven’t realised it yet, you are using a trial version of the browser right now) to April for the reason of “To ensure that the browser incorporates all of these enhancements”. The Opera Browser will be free to download/install as a free promo (note: if you install/download during the promo, your browser [and updates?] will always be free) from April to June. As soon as it’s July, Wii Users (who have not installed the final version of the browser) will have to pay 500 Wii Points to download it.

Sega has announced that they are bringing their popular cult like game, NiGHTS to the Wii, after not having a game to call its own for about 17 years. NiGHTS has constantly been a small minigame in almost every SEGA game. And now, it will become its own full fledged game.
