Nintendo has announced that they have 4 more days until Pokemon Pearl and Diamond are released. And be prepared for an outage, as over half a million copies have already been pre-ordered. On last count, the number of preorders was 533,000. Not sure why Nintendo warns us of an outage, as they have over 1.4 million games ready to go on sale.

Good at movies? Have an idea for a TV show? Want an somewhat easy $100k?

Microsoft Game Studios and the New York Television Festival are offering a contest to give you $100,000 dollars to make a TV show that will appear on the Xbox Live MarketPlace. All you have to do is create a pilot TV episode and submit it. If you win you will get a 6 episode deal as well as the previously mentioned $100k. Now the downsides. The pilot has to be between 5-15 minutes long, you must pay a $25 dollar fine, must be introducing an original television series, and it must be submitted before June 29th.

If you really want popularity and fame, have $25 dollars to give up, lots of time, good funding (needed to make the pilot), and think you could be the next Star Wars/The Office/24/ER/Scrubs TV show, then try your luck with this contest.

Official rules and entry form can be found here.

Major Nelson reports on his podcast how to get yourself a free Xbox 360 Elite in a contest (note to you people who don’t want to do anything, you actually have to write an essay). He also reports on the new Xbox 360 Dashboard Spring Update. So if you want to learn more about this, go check out the podcast from here.

Notice: GameSpotting! is not giving away an Xbox 360 Elite. We are not affiliated with this contest. Stop asking us for a 360. This contest is likely over already.

3 New Wii Virtual Console Games are a major punchout!

Nintendo announced Punch Out, as this week’s Wii VC Game from the NES. Punch Out is a fun punching game that’s like Wii Boxing, but more cartoonish and less 1996+ graphics. Another game, which happens to be another fighting like game, Virtua Fighter 2 from the Sega Genesis. The last game is a major head slammer, which is named Bonk. Which you Bonk people with your head as you play as Bonk the caveman (that doesn’t make much sense to us either).

Here are Nintendo’s descriptions of the games:

Punch Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): As young boxer Little Mac, players have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to battle the big guys of the World Video Boxing Association circuit. Take them on one by one, starting with skinny Glass Joe. Battle up through King Hippo and all the way to the WVBA Champion himself. Players use their best jabs, hooks and power uppercuts to knock out opponents, but must pay attention to subtle changes in their body position to dodge jaw-breaking blows. With great graphics, addictive action and a touch of humor, this game will keep players entertained for hours.

Virtua Fighter 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Virtua Fighter was the very first 3-D fighting game in the industry and introduced six unique characters, each with their own martial arts style. In Virtua Fighter 2, the intrepid fighters return to the World Fighting Tournament. Players take to the stage to see who will claim the championship title. Will it be Lau Chan, Kage-Maru, Wolf Hawkfield, Jeffry McWild, Akira Yuki, Jacky Bryant, Sarah Bryant or Pai Chan? The answer lies within. Players immerse themselves in this technically challenging game and see if they have what it takes to be the champion of the second World Fighting Tournament.

Bonk’s Revenge (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): The “hardheaded” hero is back for more in the second installment of the Bonk series. Taking place in the Monster Kingdom, Bonk the Caveman makes his way toward King Drool III. Bonk’s Revenge is a side-scrolling action game in which players Jump and “Bonk” (head-butt) their enemies while they make their way to the goal at the end of each stage. Double, even triple, attack power by eating the meat that appears in a stage. There are eight different hidden bonus stages, and the Dinosaur Train that appears after players defeat a boss will change depending on how many Smileys they’ve collected. With new actions such as the Triangle Jump and the ability to climb trees, as well as seven variety-packed stages, Bonk’s Revenge will keep players playing over and over.

PS3 20GB version is all gone

Sony has removed their PS3 20GB system from the back of shipping trucks as there “wasn’t enough demand for it”. Sony says that they have “decided to focus our current efforts on the more popular 60GB model” rather then sell the 20GB version. So it will be a lot harder to find a 20GB model now, since Sony has stopped producing them (and boy did that die earlier then Sony probably thought it would). I would predict that prices for the 20GB version might go up on eBay because they are harder to find.

Wii Internet Channel ready for action

Nintendo announced that they have released (they said it was sometime in April, and it turns out to be today) the full version of the Opera browser for the Wii. However, it doesn’t have all the features (it’s just missing one) they said they were going to add just yet. It does have the better zoom in/out functions, better display fonts, the collapsible toolbars Nintendo said they were going to add and the ability to have more then one cursor (not sure how that works out).

Plus there are 2 new functions that they didn’t mention before. One of them is the search engine function. This function allows you to search either Google or Yahoo! as a default search engine for the browser’s search button. You can also change the search engine at any time and you should be able to add more search engines as well. The second feature (not really much of a feature) but the browser now comes with pre-loaded bookmarks of Yahoo, Nintendo, Google and My Opera (which is Opera’s portal page).

The browser is free up till June 30th. After that, users who haven’t downloaded it will have to pay 500 Wii Points. Once you have downloaded the browser, you will get free updates and will not have to download it again.

To all you Wii fans: Super Paper Mario goes on sale Tuesday

Super Paper Mario BoxartWe got word from Nintendo that Super Paper Mario is coming out for the Wii on Tuesday. Nintendo states that the game ships tomorrow to stores, yet it will go on sale on Tuesday. Several stores are going to release it at different time. Like Target, according to their website it will release on Wednesday. Best Buy is advertising that they will sell it on Tuesday, yet only after 2 o’ clock. Oddly, Gamestop (and EB Games [which is now owned by Gamestop]) only advertises when it ships, not when they are selling it.

So if you are looking for some 2D/3D Paper Mario, a bunch of laughs, and really bad puns for Luigi, then you should totally go pick this game up.
