China Warrior Main ScreenThis coming in from Hudson Soft, China Warrior from the TurboGrafx-16 will be releasing for the Wii Virtual Console. This information is confirmed with Hudson Soft. Priced at 600 Wii Points, you must play as a Kung Fu master who must defeat the evil emperor of China and save the lands from his evil reign.

China Warrior AttackBut here is the semi-unverified information that we caught wind from Nintendo. Last time we believed this source, the game they mentioned was postponed for a later date and then released. But here’s hoping they are right.

The game that is supposed to release in the US (it’s going to release in Europe along with China Warrior which is also releasing here [but then Nintendo would bring this game to the US as well, right?]), is the classic 1989 Megaman from the NES priced at 500 Wii Points. My name comes from the Megaman series, and it’s only really mentioned in 3 of the games (if you can figure out which game first has my name in it, then you are a major Megaman fan). So let’s hope that we are right in assuming it comes to America.

Austin Powers is the free movie from McDonalds

Earlier this week, we mentioned that McDonald’s would be giving out a free movie today (6-22-07) and supposively today only. Well, the movie is Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. The standard definition movie (at about 1GB) is free. To find the movie you have to look in the All Movies section of media and entertainment or find the rare McDonald’s ad banner in the dashboard.

The video says it’s a rental, but then all movies say that. Not sure if after 24 hours since downloading you have to pay or not. I would think you wouldn’t need to..

GameStop and Microsoft are running a Halo 2 tournament for the prize of one of five Xbox 360 Elites. The new multiplayer challenge is supposed to kick off the two new Halo 2 maps that were mentioned on this site a month or two ago. And if you don’t own Halo 2 (shame on you) then you can also enter the online drawing.

In the tournament, 3 finalists with the highest scores will recieve an Xbox 360 Elite. As well as 2 black Xbox 360 wireless controllers, an accessory pack and 2 “Play and Charge” packs for said controllers. The 5 runner-ups get a 12 month subscription to Xbox Live Gold.

If one entered the online drawing, there are more winners. Two winners will get a Xbox 360 Elite Console Pack. While 5 other people will get 12 month Gold subscriptions to Xbox Live and 25 others will get 3 month.

You must enter before June 25th (which is in 3 more days) in order to participate. Click here to enter and click here for more information.

Manhunt 2 inevitably “suspended”

Yet more Rockstar controversy! After being banned in the UK, getting the kiss-of-death Adults Only rating in the US, getting banned in Ireland, followed up by both Sony and Nintendo saying they will not endorse anything rated AO on their systems. Manhunt 2 has been “temporarily suspended” as said by quote a Rockstar representative. They also said that they believe in creative expression, responsible marketing and will not give up hope for the game.

The only options left for Take-Two and Rockstar would be to edit the game, which will take time and money, and may come at the consumer’s (our) expense, seeing as they’ll be taking away from what they saw as Manhunt now we’ll be stuck with “The-Watered-Down-Version-So-It’s-Not-So-Gory-But-Still-Sorta-Fun-Even-Though-the-Point-was-to-be-Gruesome”…of Manhunt.

Hitman Triple Pack goes on sale this Friday

Europeans, Eidos Interactive is going to release all three of their Hitman games into one easily buyable package called the Hitman Triple Pack (European law might state that if you are under 18 you might not be able to buy this game) which will be for the PS2 and PC. If you can’t remember the games off the top of your head, here is a refresher; Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Contracts, and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (not in this order, by the way).

The game pack will be on sale to only the Europeans on June 22nd for a price of £39.99 (or about $79 dollars in American money). While that is pretty expensive, Amazon is pricing the PS2 version for £17.98 (or $35 dollars).

Phantom Hourglass gets near-perfect score from Famitsu

How colorful!I don’t know if any of you readers have heard of Famitsu, but it’s a very popular Japanese magazine that’s notorious for being fairly tough on games (though, it gave Nintendogs a 40/40)- giving Resident Evil 4 a 38/40 and Yoshi Touch ‘n’ Go a 35/40. The latest score to come out of Famitsu-ville was the DS’s next monster hit: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (official website here). This puts it ahead of many games, as it’s not commonplace for Famitsu to dole out such a high score, which will make cel-shaded-Link-fan’s heart’s across America leap with joy.

Well, maybe not.

Update: Apparently only six games have ever received a perfect score (mind you, this goes back to ’86), and only 17 have received a 39, one of which is Phantom Hourglass. So, it’s safe to say you can go ahead and bust out some preorder money.

SEGA creating Sonic Rivals 2 for the PSP

Sonic Rivals 2Sonic Rivals, which originally was made for the PSP, is now going to have a sequel on called Sonic Rivals 2 (what a catchy title). Like the old version, it will be semi 3D, with some elements 2D others 3D. Anyways, we assume the story line is like the first one (but SEGA will probably change it to something new).

SEGA released a few screenshots for you to enjoy. Please note that the graphics are pretty much the worst ever (but we expected that being a development version). One big glitch you can see already is the magically floating building that you can see through in the first shot. Click the image in this post to see the slide show.

We will let you know more about the game as we get it from SEGA

Here are the links to the other images if you want to skip to a certain one:

Strike Three, You’re Out, Manhunt 2

You're outta there! In what is probably going to be the final straw for Manhunt 2 (after receiving an “Adults-Only” rating in the States, and being banned in the UK), IFCO has banned Manhunt 2 in Ireland due to a violation of the Video Recordings Act of 1989 which states that “acts of gross violence or cruelty (including mutilation and torture)” will not be allowed for sale or rental.

Manhunt 2 now has a history of being banned in two countries, and being 18+ in the US. And it was on the Wii? Now both Sony and Nintendo will NOT license the game if it maintains its Adults Only rating.
So, Rockstar can edit the game (however now that it’s set for release, it would cost a lot of money [and time] to fix), or give up on it.

Nintendo Shortcuts Contest Winners Announced

Well, the previously mentioned Nintendo Shortcuts Contest has ended and the winners have been announced. Anyone can still vote on the videos. Personally, I thought that the judges did an excellent job in choosing the winning entry. It’s quite funny. But words really can’t say much about the videos so you might as well check them out for yourself by going here.

Father of the Playstation leaves Sony today

They just want you to think it looks smallAfter making the ridiculously huge waffle iron (sorry fanboys) called the PS3, Ken Kutaragi (who was the chairman and a chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment) left Sony today. He announced that he would be leaving last April, and has officially left the company. This doesn’t mean the PS3 will stop being developed, as he left his two year plan for the PS3 (which might hint that there will be a PS4 in two years [though we doubt it]).

In a final phrase that will kill almost any PS3 fanboy, Kutaragi stated that the future of the PS3 relies on Online Gaming and the Internet (not gaming titles? or price? or design? [hmmm...]). Sorry guys.

Manhunt 2 gets “I” for Illegal in UK, AO in US

Americans above 18, only, pleaseManhunt 2, Rockstar Games’ (of Grand Theft Auto fame) murder sim, has reportedly received an “Adults-Only” rating in the States, followed up by being outlawed in the United Kingdom. Ouch. This comes out of much controversy with Jack Thompson and such, and things don’t look so bright regarding the game. When the target crowd for video games is teens to twenties, outlawing people under 18 from playing the game only points the game in a dark direction, and missing out on an entire country might hurt quite a bit, too. Walmart won’t even sell “M” games, and most chains don’t hold “AO”, either: missing out on Walmart sales is definitely not good. Rockstar can (and probably will) appeal the ESRB’s decision, but it’s not likely to get overturned. The ratings body that banned it in the United Kingdom is the BBFC, whose decision thoroughly annoyed Rockstar. So, all of you hoping to get your murder on and get a mature game on the Wii…not just yet.
