Details revealed about Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Nintendo revealed new details about Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn today. The new Fire Emblem will be set 3 years after Mad King Ashnard died and the war ended. The dead king’s country is now being controlled by the victors of the war, who now oppress Daein. As always you play as the hero group who has to help the country of Daein.

You play as the “Dawn Brigade” made up of Micaiah, Sothe, and a bunch of others as they hope to bring Daein’s long lost prince to the crown. The new details also hint that later in the game you will be able to see a different perspective by playing as Ike, Mist, Shinon, Rolf and other characters from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance as the Greil Mercenaries. The Greil Mercenaries are said to “watch Daein’s battles spread [around the world]“. Also, the laguz characters from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance return once again to help fight with you in this game.

As with previous Fire Emblem games, you can build relationships with the soldiers that are on your team, and as always, if you lose a soldier in battle, you lose him (or her) forever (which can be so annoying). The magic system from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is now blended with magic systems from earlier Fire Emblem games. With 16:9 widescreen support and the new feature is the “Battle Save” that allows you to create a permanent save mid-battle (which is nice if you know something might screw up), Radiant Dawn will be a great game for Fire Emblem fans, and for people who might want to start playing the series. So far, I am liking this “Battle Save” feature, should be a lot of help when in those tight situations.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn releases on November 5th for the Nintendo Wii.

How-to: Gliding in SSBB

You can fly!Apparently, Meta Knight, Charzard and Pit can all fly (more like glide) as seen in this picture to the right.

The newest update tells us to jump in mid air using one of the characters above. After doing so, you hold the jump button (or move the control stick back and forward) and you will be able to glide! Then you can control your movements the way you would control a plane or something. Move the stick back to fly up and the control stick forward to dive down.

This guy is probably going to loseThe downside to gliding (like with most Super Smash Bros. Brawl updates, there is some sort of downside to the move) is that you can’t change direction once you start flying. Plus you are still vulnerable when flying, so don’t think flying all the way to the top of the level will work the best, as stalling is not your friend.

The upside to this move is that:

A) You can fly like Peter Pan

B) It would work great when the devil guy is the selected “assist” trophy, allowing you to be able to fly the the side he points to faster.

C) Possible combos?

And that’s all for today’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl update.

EA announces a new game to its Need for Speed franchise

Need For Speed: ProStreetEA announced their newest title in the Need for Speed series, ProStreet. ProStreet, which releases on October 31st, is supposed to be EA games’ interpretation of Street Racing Culture in the next 5 years (in otherwords, exactly the same as it is now). You start as you normally start in NFS games, a person who is a nobody who then enters street racing to become somebody. No new news here. According to the Executive Producer, Larry LaPierre: “This is a next-gen game, packed with the raw intensity and visceral aggression that defines street racing at the highest level.” Yeah, Need for Speed games have never really done it as well as the Burnout series, in my opinion.

Apparently for the “first time ever” you can design and build your car, a feature that has been in NFS since Underground. Not much of the story has been revealed but knowing EA it will probably have to do with you competing against some rival or something. And new in NFS: ProStreet is the Show Down mode, which sounds a lot like a race.

EA will probably not surprise me at all with ProStreet.

This week’s virtual console titles include Capcom classics and Konami’s Super Contra

This week on the Wii Virtual Console, we have 2 Capcom classics as well as Super Contra (for 500 points). Capcom features Breath of Fire 2 (for 800 points) from the Super NES and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts (for 800 points) from the Sega Genesis.

The games are available now on the Wii Virtual console. Oddly, Nintendo didn’t include any descriptions of the games. How weird. But can always check out the games yourself by logging into the Wii Shop Channel.

Brawl Update: Super Spicy Curry

Man that is hot!Do you remember from cartoons when one of the characters eats extremely hot food and they start breathing flames? Well, today’s SSBB update has themes that are just like that. The update introduces a new item, superspicy curry.

When you eat it gives you heartburn, which can lead to Acid Reflux Disease. That’s why you should ask your doctor about the purple pill called…oh wait.

Figure 1:Curry Combos Anyways, when you really eat it, it causes you to breathe fire!!!! Awesome!!! Yoshi will be able to breathe fire (without having to use his finishing move)!! Woo! You also spew fire when you attack other players, allowing “combo” moves to be performed. Apparently your whole body emits a ember aurora as seen in the picture to the left.

That looks hot! You might want to have a glass of water with that curry. Or maybe several glasses of water….

Need Water!

PAX 2007 coolness

PAX was awesome this year (which is also my first year of going and words can’t really explain how much fun I had [though I can try]). And let me tell you, there are a lot of weird people who like to dress up as their favorite characters in this world. After waiting in line (after you get your tickets you have to wait in this long line till the convention starts, and I wish I brought my DS :( ). To make it easier for you to read (and for me to write this) I have bolded the game titles.

Metroid Prime Corruption preview

Wow, this game is probably the coolest ever for the Wii. The graphics are amazing. The sound is awesome and the controls look great. I really wish I could say more about this game. I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to actually play it during PAX as the line was way too long and I really didn’t want to wait the whole entire time. Oh, and if you are wondering why it is releasing in August rather than the original October date, it’s because Online play was removed.

However, Joystiq got to play (they didn’t have to wait for lines).

Challenger Approaching! It’s Diddy Kong…

Aw man. I wish they announced Falco or something. Why this guy? Anyways, this is Diddy Kong, the annoying sidekick that had an awesome N64 game which was later made into a not so great DS game (I am talking about Diddy Kong Racing here). Screenshots given of the new challenger, prove that he does mocking things (if he is as annoying as Young Link, I seriously will be very very angry). No moves were specified on the site just yet (figures). But apparently he “scrambles” around the battle which makes it sound like he doesn’t have strong attacks, but apparently he wields a Rocketbarrel Boost (is that just the barrel cannon?) and a Peanut Pop Gun (whatever that is). So he does have a few strong moves. And that’s it for today’s Super Smash Bros Brawl Update.

BioShock Review

If you’ve played the demo, the opening sequence is identical, as is the story: it’s 1960, and you (Jack Fontaine- how do you not remember your own name?) are on a plane over the mid-Atlantic for a reason only you would know. For some reason, the plane crashes, and your lucky self doesn’t explode, but nearly drowns. In an effort to live, you find a lighthouse, which is all too convenient. You swim over to it and enter a Bathysphere, and pull a lever…probably not the smartest thing you’ve ever done: welcome to Rapture.
