This week, a new Steam Update will be released, that includes some awesome new features.

The one I like the best is the Guest passes and the Background Client Updates. Here is an overview of all the features in the new Steam version.

Guest Passes

Guest passes are probably the coolest thing ever. If you own a game, that you have legally bought at a store or off of Steam and you want to play with a friend who doesn’t have the game you can send them the game for free so you can play with them. Of course the free version they get is limited. But not feature limited. Time limited. Once you stop playing with them, their game expires. And they will not be able to play the game you gave to them free, unless you choose to play with them again. So far, the only game that is compatible with this is Day of Defeat: Source.

Background Client Updates

Steam starts up pretty slow, mainly because it would check and download new updates while it was starting. The newest version of Steam will download them in the background and will be faster during startup. It will also ask you if you want to apply the update, and if so, it will do that and then restart.

New User Interface

Steam has a new interface that features 5 diffrent colors.

Favorites

Favorites allows you to keep track of your favorite stuff on steam so you can always go back to them.
