A few days ago, Hothead Games announced that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness has gone gold on the PC, Mac and Linux versions. According to Hothead, the Xbox Live Arcade game is under review (a process where Microsoft reviews a game/game content and then prices it for the Marketplace). The computer versions are priced at $20 dollars and rumor has it that the Xbox Live Arcade version will be 1600 points.

What does this mean? It basically means that the game is coming out real soon.

Yup, today’s the day: August…13. You know, the day before Madden 08 comes out. If you want to preorder, today’s your last day to do it- and preorders are selling like hotcakes for the 08 installment. If you already have it preordered, your store probably has a launch party, so I suggest calling them.

I don’t know what else I can say. Uh, buy Madden?

The makers of Doom and Quake announced their newest game, Rage yesterday. Rage is set in the time where Players fight against a corrupt and oppressive government in the aftermath of an apocalyptic world. The game will be built with new graphic technology not seen yet in video games. The new technology was made by the co-founder of id Software, John Carmack who showed it off to people at the QuakeCon event yesterday.

The technology behind Rage, named “Tech5”, will allow developers to make games that have better graphics, more realistic extremely easy. Plus it features technology that allows a PC game to be easily changed and ported for the Mac, Xbox 360 and the PS3. CEO Todd Hollenshead stated that “You can have massive outdoor environments and make them look glorious down to pixel level without any performance issues.”

Rage has not been dated for release and the publisher is currently unknown, however it’s most likely going to be Activision as they have been the publisher for id Software for quite awhile.

According to id Software, the game will not be just a regular Doom or Quake, the levels are outdoor and more open, allowing the player to roam in very large areas. However, it will still have bad guys and awesome guns and things that you can shoot at but the Quake developers wanted to provide more of a “surprise”.

We will be watching this Rage project as it continues.

World of Warcraft, one the biggest and most popular games out there, will be receiving another expansion in form of Wrath of the Lich King, the second expansion since The Burning Crusade. The news came earlier today at BlizzCon 07, Blizzard’s second convention, and the pack will be sporting a new class- “Death Knight”, the series’ first Hero class. There’s a new profession, Inscription, a new continent called Northrend (home of the Lich King), destructible buildings,¬†siege¬†engines, new character-customization features (hair, skin color, and dances), and new dungeons. Oh, and did I mention you can now go up to level 80, and along the way you’ll gain new abilities? Well, yeah, you can.The skill cap will max out at 450, and the game will feature ten new zones in Northend (and possibly more), including a PVP outdoor area. The story involves the Horde and the Alliance heading north to stop the Scourge, the undead army of Arthas Menethil. As of writing, it is unknown when the expansion pack is set to hit stores.
