Yup. This morning, after I picked up Brawl and popped it into the Wii, it wouldn’t read. I thought it was odd, seeing as it was an untouched game, but I exchanged it…only to find the second disk, too, didn’t read. I decided to research the issue further, and turns out, it’s widespread.

According to Nintendo, ” Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem.”

The repair is free, but there’s no set time range for how long it will take. If you’re experiencing a disk read error with Brawl, hit the link here

From December to February, and now to March, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed again. Nintendo of America says that additional tweaks have caused the finished version to be released on March 9th.

NoA’s official statement was:

“The launch date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl has shifted a few weeks to March 9. The development is taking slightly longer than expected. As we’re sure you have seen on the Dojo site (www.SmashBros.com), the game contains an unprecedented number of characters, options and experiences. Be sure to keep an eye on the Dojo site for the latest information.”

Fortunately, the delay is only a couple of weeks, so we don’t have to wait that long.

To aim you just move the WiiMote and just press fire (the B button?). You can’t just sit there forever though, you are on a clock, it’s best to fire as much as you can.

If you use all your rounds, the Final Smash is over.

He was a smash trophy in Melee, and now both characters are confirmed as a playable character. Neato! Though I don’t see him as a potentially strong character. In order to attack he has to get Pikmin from the level to do smash attacks and various stuff like that. Yeah, that could be a really big problem in big brawls where time is short and you need to act quick to survive.

Either way, it seems kind of cute for the new addition. Though I doubt I will see anyone playing as him. Also, there is some evidence on a Pikmin map appearing in the game. We’ll probably hear about it soon.

Yesterday, Nintendo announced that players will be able to create their own maps for Super Smash Bros Brawl. Yep, that’s right. Custom Maps. That’s pretty sweet. You will be able to create your own maps, with music and custom backgrounds, etc. When you are done, you can play it yourself and save it or upload it to Nintendo to be featured some day.

Nintendo is also experimenting with the idea of having the daily custom map that will be able to be downloaded onto your machine. Awesome, eh? They have yet to really work out the details whether it will be a one time download for only one day and then it will go away, or start saving each day onto your Wii. We hope to hear more as this develops.

On a side note, sorry for the really long time between postings. I have been busy for the last few weeks and things are winding down for awhile.
