Nintendo will fix broken DS lite hinges for free

Some DS Lite owners have complained that their DS Lite hinge was cracked on the left side. Since than every blog on the internet has been posting about this. Saying that all units are doomed. Well Nintendo has reported that only 0.02% of all DS Lite units have this problem and that owners can get their unit fixed for free without having to pay the original 50 dollar price that was charged because the crack was considered out of warranty. So if your DS Lite has the crack then you can get yours fixed for free.

This is for hinges that broke themselves and were faulty from the start, and not for hinges that broke due to neglect, abuse or any accident that you may have inflicted on your machine.

Win a Pikachu DS Lite

Today the pokemon company announced that they will be giving away a 150 “I Love Pikachu” DS Lites (not in stores). These special models are basically the Ceramic White color with images of Pikachu.

To enter you must go to the I Love Pokemon Club Web site and enter (can’t find the right link but I believe this is it) via mobile phone or PC. 100 units go to the PC entrants and 50 to the mobile phone users.

StarFox is ready for action

screenFor the rumble park. Star Fox Command, the DS version which goes back to the N64 starfox roots is coming to japan in less than a month. And for fun, Nintendo has released a few facts to the public.

As said before, players who own the DS will be able to use it with the game as they are playing. StarFox will feature 30+ stages which are set in deserts, space, oceans, and lava….places. It is also confirmed that there will be quite a few pilots from the previous Star Fox games, each with their own special abilities.

The game will support Wi-Fi and wireless offline gaming (WiLan). Star Fox Command is set to launch in Japan on August 3 and will cost about $41.50.

The American version is predicted to come out around August 28.

DS Lite gets pretty.

pinkdsNintendo has planned to release a new DS Lite color, pink. Who knows why they decided to release pink, but they are going to make one. Maybe it’s because the “rise of girl gamers” but it’s unclear. I think they just like pink for no reason. Anyway the Pink edition (called noble pink) will come out near the time the will will release and will be priced at $144.

DS Browser Revealed

Nintendo has reveled it’s DS browser today, which features full stylus controls and inputs direct handwriting to the Opera Browser (which is the DS browser). The downside is that it won’t be able to display video, sound, PDF and flash objects. You can save bookmarks but not elements from your pages (or images). The browser will be available on Nintendo’s Japanese site on July 24.
